De Morgan Peacock Cushion on Freestyle Embroidery

An inspiring visit to Whitwick Manor (pronounced "Wittick", I'm told), gave seed to the idea for this cushion.

Bordered by motifs of machine embroidery blown up from the main panel, this is a work of contrast between two techniques - hand applique and machine applique. The surface of the main panel is very tactile and dimensional, using tabs, sequins and felted shapes to add texture.
